An exhibition of the work of photographer Grant Smith has been shown at the Building Centre in London, detailing his visit to Burkina Faso, West Africa.
Burkina Faso, ‘the land of the upright people’, is a West African country home to over 18 million people. Beset with political and health issues, the country also suffers from one of the lowest standards of education in the world. Article 25 worked with the local community in the town of Gourcy to help construct a school that could accommodate a larger number of pupils and protect them from the extremely hot climate.
Between 2010–2012, Graham led on the design for Bethel Secondary School in Gourcy, Burkina Faso as Project Director with the International Development and Disaster Relief Organisation Article 25 for this UK charity funded secondary school and community project in West Africa.
In 2014, award winning photographer, Grant Smith visited the completed site to document the build and its impact on students.
